We hand make our own Screech owl houses to Audubon Society size recommendations, we only use high quality cedar and exterior hardware. Our boxes are nailed and screwed together, double stability to last longer in the Texas weather. When we can get it we also source cedar from local barn and house projects and up cycle thicker planks that have a beautiful pattern into the roof and base. We have even started to add an exclusively made metal owl by Authenticaa to our boxes.
If you have a larger tree in your property, where you can place a box 12-15 feet from the ground, screech owls are happy to check out and nest in boxes. They love a ready made home, so add some leaves and dry sticks and give it some time, screech owls have been know to nest in very busy streets and adjust well to us humans around them.
Let’s give our feathered friends a home, we sell the boxes all year round but the best time to attract an owl is spring. We usually have a few for sale in the Hand Made at Nutty Brown Store but we also take ordered and can custom make boxes. Delivery within 5 miles of Nutty Brown or pick up.
